  • Submit an abstract for the SGNA 49th Annual Course!

    We are excited to see all of you in-person at the 49th Annual Course taking place May 22-24, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah! If you want to share your knowledge with your peers or know someone who might be interested in doing so, we encourage you to submit an abstract today.

    The Program Committee is especially interested in abstracts with the following topics:

      • Regulatory and accrediting body updates
      • Tips for successful reaccreditation visits 
      • Water quality
      • Advances in technology (e.g., disposable endoscopes, artificial intelligence)
      • Staffing
      • Endoscope reprocessing 
      • Moderate sedation and anesthesia
      • GI diseases (examples include: Hepatitis, IBD, Liver Disease, Colorectal Cancer) 
      • Procedures (examples include: ERCP, EUS, PEG/PEJ, Bronchoscopy)

  • The Empowering Diversity in the GI Profession Scholarship

    SGNA is excited to introduce The Empowering Diversity in the GI Profession Scholarship, a new scholarship program intended to increase diversity and inclusion within the GI profession. This scholarship provides financial support to SGNA members from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations and or/those who have been impacted by disability. This scholarship will support undergraduate or graduate-level studies (e.g. Associate’s Degree, BSN, MSN or PhD) or preparation materials, educational programs and examination costs in support of certification, certificate or similar programs (e.g. CGRN, CFER or AGTS).

  • Apply for an Associates Program Scholarship

    Are you interested in pursuing either the SGNA Associates or Advanced Associates Program? Apply for a Program Scholarship to receive financial assistance with purchasing the program. Technicians and Associates are able to earn a higher level of recognition, as a GI Technical Specialist (GTS) or Advanced GI Technical Specialist (AGTS), by successfully completing the Associates or Advanced Associates Program. 
     
    This scholarship is open to members and non-members. The number of scholarships awarded will depend upon funds available and the number of applicants. To apply, visit our scholarships webpage. Applications can be sent to info@sgna.org.
     
    The deadline to apply is April 1, 2021. Your application has been officially submitted once you receive a confirmation email.
  • SGNA Multisociety Guideline Update

    The  Multisociety Guideline on Reprocessing Flexible GI Endoscopes and Accessories has been updated. SGNA endorses and participated in the development of the guideline which can be accessed on the SGNA website.

    We know you’ve been wondering about this spring’s Annual Course. Due to the continued public health threat caused by COVID-19, SGNA’s Board of Directors has decided to host the SGNA 48th Annual Course: A Virtual Experience, as a live, virtual event May 22-25 to help you learn and connect with the SGNA peers, and earn contact hours, while we await the chance to come back together in person. We will offer optional pre-conference workshops May 21-22 that can be added to your virtual event registration.

    Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) is a minimally invasive procedure that aids in diagnosing diseases that affect the lung, including infections, cancer and inflammatory processes such as sarcoidosis.   • Submit Nominations for The Gabriele Schindler and Distinguished Service Awards

    Each year at the Annual Course, SGNA recognizes members who have made important contributions in direct patient care in one or more of several performance categories. Consider submitting a nomination for yourself or a peer who stands out in the field. 

     

    • The Distinguished Service Award recognizes a current SGNA member who has made significant contributions to the regional and national activities of the Society in the previous year.
    • The Gabriele Schindler Clinical Excellence Award, named for an early pioneer in gastroenterology patient care, recognizes a member who has made important contributions in direct patient care in one or more of several performance categories.
