  • Seeking SMEs for SGNA GI Population Health Task Force

    SGNA is seeking volunteers with relative subject matter expertise to serve on a task force to research GI population health issues and identify areas of focus in developing GI population health education. Activities include:

    1. Collect and review existing population health resources relevant to GI patients.
    2. Research disease specific findings to identify gaps in existing population health resources.
    3. Develop list of GI population health issues and identify priorities for focus.

    Membership Term: Anticipated December 2022 – March 2023

    Time Commitment: 2-3 hours/month including conference calls.

  • Upcoming Webinars

    Onn Tuesday, October 11 at 6:00 p.m. CT, Michael Garlin will present "Understanding and Learning How To Use Conflict In a More Strategic Way" as part of the Wellness Series. This webinar is free-of-charge to all SGNA members. Upon successful completion, participants can earn up to 1.00 contact hour.

     

    On Thursday, October 20 at 6:00 p.m. CT, Frank Daniels, MSHA CFER CER AGTS, Linda Daniels, GTS AGTS CFER, and Kim Gallub, MSN RN CGRN will present "Finding Common Ground in Endoscope Reprocessing: A Panel Discussion." Upon successful completion, participants can earn up to 1.00 contact hour. Contact hours have also been approved by ABCGN, CBSPD, and HSPA.

    The Empowering Diversity in the GI Profession Scholarship is a scholarship program intended to increase diversity and inclusion within the GI profession. This scholarship provides financial support to SGNA members from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations and or/those who have been impacted by disability.

  • Seeking SMEs for SGNA Associates Program Revision Project

    SGNA is seeking volunteers with relative subject matter expertise to serve on a work group for the revision of the SGNA Associates Program. The Associates Program provides learners with the core knowledge of the GI/endoscopy specialty and work setting.

    The targeted revision cycle for this online educational program is anticipated to run from August 2022 to February 2023 and require approximately 10-12 hours/month.

     

    During the program revision, subject matter experts are expected to do the following:

    1.  Review the assigned content carefully
    2. Identify and update inaccuracies and/or outdated information
    3. Identify current and accurate content for inclusion based on current research and literature.
    4. Examine and revise review questions (if applicable)
    5. Update bibliography with current resources
    6. Review artwork for currency and precision (if applicable)

  • Apply for the CGRN Exam Before July 31, 2022

    The application window for the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN) Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) exam is open through July 31, 2022, with the test window between October 1 - October 31, 2022. Remote online proctoring is now available, and Prometric has adopted enhanced safety measures at test centers to help ensure your safety and comfort.
  • Call for SMEs: SGNA GI/Endoscopy Nursing Review Course Speakers

    SGNA is soliciting volunteers with relevant subject matter expertise to serve as speakers for the GI/Endoscopy Nursing Review Course and CGRN Exam Essentials Course as offered by SGNA. The deadline to submit your application is August 12, 2022.

  • Submit an abstract for the 50th Annual Course!

    The Call for Abstracts for the 50th Annual Course is open! The SGNA Program Committee is soliciting abstracts on the following topics, though all topics are welcome:
    • Evidence-based Practice and Research
    • Emerging Technology
    • Management/Leadership/Business Acumen
    • GI Diseases (Hepatitis, IBD, Liver disease, Colorectal cancer)
    • Infection Prevention
    • Procedures (ERCP, EUS, PEG/PEJ, Bronchoscopy)
    • Moderate Sedation and Anesthesia
    • Regulatory and Accrediting Body Updates
